We kick start the new year for New Year with new hopes and wishes. After the sudden snow storm hit New York City early 2011, New Yorkers experienced a little warm weather that continued a couple of days as if the breeze of the Spring already making its way to us.

Despite the flurries of snow since coming to Manhattan since morning, all the fashion industries are busy welcoming spring 2011. Let's forecast what will be the SS 2011 Fashion Color Trends. 

1. Orange

The bright orange color will bring you energy and excitement of life. The color orange gives you confidence and boldness. Orange has been featured as a main color in several collections including Marc by Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, and Prada SS 2011 Collections.

Orange might give you the impression that it’s difficult to match with other colors, but try to match with lighter color. It brightens you up together.

Boldness and straight forward energy from the color orange is worth trying to liven up your spirit this Spring.

2. Pure White 

Spring is time to put your dark tone coat to away. Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Chloé, and Dolce & Gabbana showed a series of white collections in silky fabric for SS 2011.

A pure white dress in a silky light texture is what accentuates the feminine beauty.

3. Sand Color

The Sand color was favored by Donna Karran, Phillip Lim, and Valentino to accelerate glamour of women. Elegant sandy fabric with a soft glittering touch up will truly help you enhance your glamour style.

Admittedly this is not a new trend. OTK boots have been back in swing since Anne Hathaway strolled into the Vogue offices on The Devil Wears Prada in 2006. From that moment the previously cliché trashy turned classy in an instant. Over the years we have seen it grow into the most popular style of the season.

Fur
Faux has never been hotter. Whatever you buy this year, buy fur—really. You will be one of the square kids eating alone in the cafeteria if you don't. Fur is on EVERYTHING from hats to scarves to boot covers to bracelets. Not big on fur? No problem; any small accessory will keep you in the "in" crowd. And if you have a pact with PETA, faux fur is the new vegan leather. We wouldn't recommend you wearing it to a rally, but feel guilt free when you are making the purchase.

Revive this classic! If you have one hiding in your closet, dust it off, remove the band buttons and wear with pride. We suggest a dark, fitted denim as a classic long-lasting investment piece. Comfortable, stylish and just plain cute, the oxford look melts us. Our guest blogger, Kitty, (or should we say Nancy Drew) predicted this trend in August. And, well, she was right. You can't wear the plushest knitwear, curvaceous pencil skirt and classic bag without a pair of these, now could you?

(The little black dress is so – yawn – 2009.) The runways were full of LWDs this February. And with Memorial Day, the unspoken nod to wearing white, behind us, you have no excuse. Envelope yourself in this summer's clean and crisp look. (We'll extend the invitation to your creams and ivories of course.) We like the idea of looking edgy in the color of innocence.

InStyle gave avant-garde suggestions for sprucing up your summer look from colorful clutches and metallic bangles to black jackets and super sexy heels. Since we assume you're not sullying your new white look with bare feet, we put together a few shoe recommendations. Below are our must-have summer shoes if you plan to step out in your LWD in style and for less.


Calvin Klein Karissa in black is easily transferable from day to night. From office wear (on a casual-but-not-so-casual Friday) or a business lunch with a fitted black jacket over LWD to chunky necklace and bangles for drinks and celebrations.

Boutique 9 Thomsina in light natural is the perfect mate to a white mini dress. Whether you are blessed with model legs or not, nude heels are a miracle. The nude shoe provides a bit of trompe l'oeil – it fools your gaze (read: men's stares) into the illusion of long, lean legs ... whether or not you got the gams.

Poetic License Dazzling in yellow is a daring pump for the traditional girl who likes all eyes on her shoes. With a bold matching belt, you could work this look into a darling pixie, quirky professional or daring artiste. The bold colors with ribbons and gems will blaze forth with the LWD as a perfect neutral background.

Whatever look you prefer with your LWD, remember proper undergarments are a must. We don't want to have any secrets exposed do we?  After all, we want them starring at your accessories, not your ... assets.


 

Spring Preview: Structural Integrity

The Mella by Calvin Klein (left in black) has arrived (online soon). The python patterned leather and short wedge heel are lively and fun, as is the silver insole, but what really motivated us was the sharp, structured cutouts on the wide T-strap and ankle.

This structured revelation of the foot feels very sharp and new, yet also a touch retro as if the ghost of Bauhaus has risen from the grave and came out sporting these kittens. We love the math of this shoe: the deliberateness of it is sexy and bespeaks a wearer who knows how to put together a look.

But Mella isn't the only shoe taking a turn for the Euclidian. In fact, it seems to be quite a trend. And no one, as usual, is internalizing and reinterpreting a trend like one of our favorite designers, Pour La Victoire.

We are OBSESSED with the Bianca by Pour La Victoire. This 4-1/2" pump with platform is going to be huge. It is in our spring deliveries and we've put a rush on it because we want it here NOW and FAST.

The geometry wows us. The shootie upper, punched with asymmetrical shapes, feels decidedly structural and architectural. It reminded us of Prada's flagship store in Tokyo or Rem Koolhaas's library in Seattle. And especially of the windows in Le Corbusier's Chapel of Notre Dame du Haut Ronchamp. And, like those windows, Bianca stragetically reveals your foot while the acid green leaher insole adds luminescence and glow.

We love this trend because it feels so deliberate and purposeful. Just by sporting this look, you instantly add relevence to your look; it dresses up your outfit. We think you can draw a straight line right through these shoes to a hot, current look that's a change-up from fall's covered up tall boots and shooties.

Pumps for the Pump

Well, here we are. Oil’s threatening to pass $150 a barrel and a trip to the gas station has become a one-hundred-dollar splurge. Heightened transportation costs have sent commodity foodstuffs like corn, soy, milk and coffee beans spiraling ever upwards, making everything from cornflakes to lattes more expensive. With the buzz-o-meter set to “Peak Oil” and the G-8 warning about a global economic downturn, we start to free-associate something like: no fuel > wars > no fuel > riots > no food > Soylent Green (> Snake Plissken?) > “The Road.”

So out of concern for your mental wellbeing in this time of global crisis, we at Lori’s decided to do what we do best: sell you really cute, affordable shoes.

Since buying gas will shortly cost more than table service at your standard, over-hyped, shiny-shirt nightclub (and until they start running cars on Effen), going to the gas station won’t be a pretty experience … unless we make it one.

The following collection of pumps are simply meant for the pump. If we’ve got to pay a fortune, let’s at least look our best. Let’s treat that grungy old station like a place befitting a $100 cover. We may be drained of money, and the earth of oil, but we have our style, damnit. And the best part? These honeys are priced at less than a barrel of oil.

Black Gold: Calvin Klein’s Dolly $80
This straightforward black leather pump is perfect for the petrol station (and the office if you are looking for versatility). The classic silhouette boasts some beguiling details like a cleanly tapered three-inch heel and a padded gold leather insole. A pointed (but not pointy) toe give these a contemporary feel that will work well under jeans or with a pleated skirt.

Texas T-strap: Max Studio’s Zebra $146
Like a panhandle geyser of awl this four-inch heel will rocket you to glamorous new heights and we love, love, love the cute little rounded snub toe. The double t-strap reminds us of the yuan which, of course, reminds us of China’s controlling stake in our economy! Hey, it’s ok! It’s our own fault for spend-spend-spending! At least it’s fun! Ah, the ties that bind … also suitable with a knee-length skirt or short dress in a bold op-art pattern.

High Octane: Max Studio’s Xplore $164
We’d tear roustabouts and roughnecks into five easy pieces for a chance to wear these shoes. Like Varvatos’s take on Converse, the eyelets here are as necessary as triglyphs on the Acropolis, which is to say very, but not in a functional sense. This near-shootie comes in charcoal black but finishes in a light sweet crude black peeptoe for subtle color contrast.

We had best see you wearing these to the nearest Citgo, unfolding yourself from your black Passion Cabriolet wearing the whitest lacy blouse you can find with some seriously oversized sunglasses, preferably plastic.

Slicker than the Valdez: Oh Deer!’s Serena $130
How can we pick pumps for the pump without including patent leather … with a gold snakeskin heel? Are you kidding us?? Patent leather, originally a linseed oil-based coating, was replaced with plastic processes. Where does plastic come from? Natch. (We’re so on-message!)

Beyond themes, we love this shoe: glossy as the water on a Lake Erie boat dock, the punchy gold of the animal print-stamped heel is a real eye-grabber. Plus, we saw the pattern on the insole at an onsen in Takayama which gave just the greatest foot massage we’ve ever had. The rounded split toe has just the right amount of snub and lift. You are guaranteed cute feet in this one.

Wear these at your cubicle desk with a monotone tailored look and some ‘50s-era, black-plastic, sexy librarian hornrims while watching this. (Hey, we know he’s nuts, but anyone who calls W. Mr. Danger and controls 11% of our oil supply gets a nod.)

We posted a few days ago about the return of the Parma - that shoe phenomenon which sold out as soon as we received it - and pre-selling availability. Well, that time has come.

Parma is available for pre-purchase.

We are receiving full size runs in black, taupe and gunmetal. All our stock is available for pre-purchase (not pre-order), meaning we will charge your card when you place the order. This is to help ensure we do not oversell and disappoint anyone. We're expecting the shoe to drop (heh) June 1-15.

This immensely popular shoe was featured in Calvin Klein's national ad campaign and has been a sellout ever since. We think CK really hit the nail on the head with this number which has a hidden platform to give the illusion of height without actually making you teeter.

For some reason we picture Tina Turner as Aunt Entity in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome wearing these to a formal in Bartertown. They've got that straps-on-straps, vampy future-chic thing going on without looking over the top ... which is a good thing. We might not need another hero, but a new pair of heels is never a bad idea.

Eva loves Calvin Klein Undies!!!

Eva Mendes is said to be the new face of Calvin Klein Underwear…according to WWD

She volunteered herself into rehab to deal with substance abuse and personal issues. It's been the trend that celebs go to rehab and come out with several new deals. Well the Calvin Klein deal was in the works long before Eva went to rehab. She's also going to be the spokesperson for a TBD Calvin Klein fragrance.
